FOX GRAPHIC TRANSLATION
The purpose behind this student project was to create logo studies of an animal with the outcome of familiarizing myself with the common approaches a designer considers when translating a form.
This project began as a reversed logo process. I started with hand drawn sketches, based on references, using different methods such as line, gesture, geometry, and shading to graphically represent a fox. Upon doing these studies, I made sure I wasn't making graphics that were clichéd, but rather original and unique. Based on how I approached the mark, I then came up with the kind of company that would best suit this style, as opposed to starting with the company's name.
Sketches
During my process, I played with line and form and various poses as well as traced over the forms of the animal to respect its curves. This was especially helpful in sketching for shading. Most of my sketches that were based on line were more on the gestural and flowy side, while some I made more orthogonal. After sketching a while, I picked out the strongest ones to refine.
THE RED PACK
The Red Pack mark suits the logo for a nursery for its basic geometric shapes, similar to the ones played by children.

REDTAIL
The suggestiveness and gestural logo for Redtail resembles that of wine being poured in a glass, making it appropriate for a winery.
Quickline
Quickline Wireless' mark consists of a line that flows, curves, and bends, resembling the connection between circuits.
THE LITTLE MISCHIEFS
The logo for The Little Mischiefs is meant to be a friendly little mascot for a children's soccer teams.
