TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKUP?
For this student project, I was challenged with creating cover visuals for the New York Times article "Is the Fashion Wearables Love Affair Over?"
For the cover, I played with humor and wit in the fashion and technological worlds with the intent of visualizing a break-up between fashion and technology. Using recognizable fashion accessories, the idea of destruction, and the absence of a lover (in this case a piece of tech), the covers convey a sense of comical heartbreak between the two worlds.
PROCESS
My process mainly involved brainstorming a list of visuals in the form of objects relating to the themes of the NYT article, heartbreak and technology, then forming an equation with these objects with the intent of developing a visual concept. Using a word from each category, I determined ways in which I could use these basic objects to embody heartbreak. With the idea of a high fashion shoe and absence of technology, I came up with the concepts of stomping on your ex, and a text from an ex-lover.
